Jake turned 17 Friday. He and his buddies were going to do a canoe trip- not really a roughing it canoe trip- a canoe trip, paddling from Jake's house to Decorah Island. Staying at Claire and Tom's house on the island over night and having a bonfire and cookout and then today, paddling down into Gilbert's Lake to fish. Jake is an outdoorsman and would be outside all the time if he had his druthers. He loves to fish and hunt. He wants to be a farmer when he grows up- well, actually he wants to be a DNR officer/gunsmith/farmer. He has it all planned out and is a blast to listen to.
I gave him my guitar a few weeks ago to use and he is enjoying learning all kinds of songs. It is way easier than when I was learning. We had to either go buy the whole song book or if someone had the album, we could pull the words and chords off of the record. He just goes online and downloads the words and music for like a buck a song.
I think that when I gave him the guitar to use ,he thought it was just an old guitar. But his buddies all were impressed with my Guild. It is a really nice sounding instrument and looks good too. It was a shame to just have it standing in my closet only to see the light of day every once in a blue moon, so I am glad that he is enjoying it.
Phrog had his (We think) 41 birthday yesterday. He came down today and mowed the lawn while I weed whipped and dug out dandelions. It got pretty cold and windy and even rained several times, so we finally gave up and he went home. I went back out and putzed around pulling more weeds, etc. I really love this time of year. Watching everything coming back to life. I also just saw my first hummingbird at one of my feeders.
The Orioles have been around and I saw an Indigo Bunting the other day. And we got a picture of a White-Crowned Sparrow that was passing through. He was pretty cute.
