It is a beautiful Sunday morning. We deserve it. We have had cool days and rain, so, I have not had Larry outside except to dash for the car.
One thing we have always loved to do, is drive around and explore. We pick a direction and just drive, turning down little country roads. We love to look at the old buildings- the farms- the scenery. When Mom was alive, we would do this and hit rummage sales and little stores. It was a lot of fun and you met all kinds of really interesting people.
I don't know how far we will go with gas prices the way they are, but.... it will be good for Larry to get out in the sunlight, and be part of something other than his normal every day routine. I'll let you know .
This week is going to be a busy one. Biza is flying in on Tuesday, so we have to pick her up. Wednesday, Larry is getting the cataract removed from his left eye after dialysis. The Dr. only does surgeries on Wednesday, so we had no other choice. It will definitely be a long day for Lar.
Then Thursday, he has his follow-up eye appointment and coumidin clinic. Friday is the Slinger rummage sale- which is usually a good one. On Saturday, the whole village has rummages and on the Friday before, about half of the people open up, so you get to hit a whole bunch of rummages in the same area and it isn't as nutsy as it is on Saturday. So Biz and I will drive out there after we drop Larry off at dialysis and then zoom back to grab him at 10:00.
Saturday, hopefully, I will be having the family over to clean out the old, rotten wood that has been stored in the chicken coop and the bee cellar (And yes, they really were a chicken coop- with chickens until I was 6 and a bee cellar where Grandpa wintered his bee hives) I thought we would have everyone bring a dish to pass and we can work and then eat. Depends on the weather forecast though.
Sunday, Katie and I have to load up her suburban to take the drive to Door County to get the mall set up on Monday. We were thinking of pulling out of the mall because it is going to be so expensive to drive up to clean the booth every few weeks- With my van, it would be about 1 tank of gas- so around $60.00 per trip, just for gas. And if we have a head wind, you have to figure even more. The trip up on Monday is gonna be an arm and a leg in the sub, but, I have to leave the van home with Biz to get Larry from dialysis, so....
I figure probably over $100.00 for gas. WOWIE-ZOWIE!
Biz is heading home the next Tuesday, so have to get as much done as possible while she is here. And this time she better not bring pestilence and disease with her. We have no time for being sick! My bedroom IS getting painted this trip- no matter what!
The best part of having Biz here is the fact that I have another person to talk to- I love Larry and love taking care of him, but- I feel like a Mom with a toddler. You are always having to re-enforce behavior. Coerce, behaviors that are more positive. You have to be very patient.
By the time Biz gets here every few months, my patient factor is starting to frazzle and I am sure that Larry is ready for a change from my constant "lecturing" , as he calls it. Please stand up straighter, if you don't your muscles will atrophy even more and you will have no trunk stability.....have you done your leg exercises...have you done you face exercises...please sit up straight....please come to the breakfast room to eat...I am always telling him to do something or asking if he is ready to do something. So, I am sure that he gets tired of me.
It just is nice to not have the weight of everything that he does rest on my shoulders for those few days. It is as close to a vacation as I have gotten in 5 years. That is a pretty long time to be working basically 24/7. So, I am grateful for the respite that I do get from Biz.
I suppose I should go eat some breakfast and discuss where we can go.
